ASM awards and scholarships available in 2025

The Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSANZ) awards and scholarships offered to New Zealand members only.

Traveling Scholarships

Up to $1,200 each. Maximum 12 awarded.

The New Zealand Regional Committee will provide up to 12 scholarships to Members to attend the Annual Scientific Meeting in New Zealand. The 2025 ASM is at the Energy Events Centre in Rotorua from 23-25 May 2025. Applications are open, and close 21 March 2025. Contact info@cardiacsociety.org.nz

Amjad Hamid Rural Traveling Scholarship

Up to $1,500 (one per year for attendance to a New Zealand ASM).

Each year, the Amjad Hamid Rural Traveling Scholarship is available to enable one rural health professional or trainee to attend the 2025 ASM is at the Energy Events Centre in Rotorua from 23-25 May 2025. Applications are open and close on 21 March 2025. Contact info@cardiacsociety.org.nz.

Nurse Member and Allied Health Member Professional Development Scholarship or Research Scholarship  

Scholarship Rationale
The NZ Region of the Cardiac Society aims to address the limited professional development and research support opportunities for nurses and allied health professionals in cardiovascular care. Two grants of up to $3,000 each will be offered to provide a pathway, one for nursing and one for allied health. These grants may cover travel, accommodation, training fees, or incidental research expenses such as statistical support or materials. Applications are open and close on 30 April 2025. 2025 Annual Investigator Awards

Young Investigator’s Award (YIA)

Up to $7500, one award.

The New Zealand Regional Committee may provide one award valued up to $7500 for the recipient to attend an international ASM. This will be awarded to the best individual presentation at the NZ ASM. Applicants must be currently in training and be based in New Zealand. The research must have been carried out in Australia or New Zealand, and the applicant must have made a significant contribution to the concept and execution of the work—one submission per person per year – www.csanzasm.nz/abst/award-guidelines

Nurse Member Investigator’s Award

Up to $3500, one award.

The New Zealand Regional Committee may provide one award valued up to $3500 for a member to attend the CSANZ Annual Scientific Meeting in New Zealand or Australia. This will be awarded to a nursing affiliate member for the best individual presentation in the Prize sessions. Applicants must be based in Australia or New Zealand. The research must have been carried out in Australia or New Zealand and the applicant must have made a significant contribution to the concept and execution of the work. Scientific excellence will be the primary criterion used by the judging panel, but aspects of presentation are also regarded as important. Allied Health Member Investigator’s Award

Up to $3500, one award.

The New Zealand Regional Committee may provide one award valued up to $3500 for a member to attend the CSANZ Annual Scientific Meeting in New Zealand or Australia. This will be awarded to a technician affiliate for the best individual presentation in the Prize sessions. Applicants must be based in Australia or New Zealand. The research must have been carried out in Australia or New Zealand and the applicant must have made a significant contribution to the concept and execution of the work. Scientific excellence will be the primary criterion used by the judging panel, but aspects of presentation are also regarded as important.  One submission per person per year – www.csanzasm.nz/abst/award-guidelines

Poster Prizes 

Three best poster prizes will be awarded at the ASM. Applicants will be automatically entered upon submitting their poster.
