CSANZ New Zealand ASM Awards and Scholarships

The New Zealand Committee offers a range of scholarships and awards to members attending the NZ ASM. Abstract submission for investigator awards is now open on the 2020 NZ ASM website.

Traveling scholarships

$1000 each, up to 10 awarded. Application Form

The New Zealand Regional Committee may provide up to 10 scholarships to attend the New Zealand Annual Scientific Meeting. Preference is given to applicants from smaller centres who have not previously received support from the Society.

In 2020 three of the scholarships will be prioritised for applicants applying to present under the ‘translational research’ theme. Each traveling scholarship will be valued at NZ$1,000.

Applicants are encouraged to consider joining the Society as members receive a discounted registration rate to attend the Society’s ASMs.

Young Investigators’ Award (YIA)

up to $7500, one award. Entrants’ Guidelines

The New Zealand Regional Committee may provide one award valued up to $7500 for the recipient to attend an international ASM. This will be awarded to the best individual presentation at the NZ ASM. Applicants must be currently in training and be based in New Zealand. The research must have been carried out in Australia or New Zealand and the applicant must have made a significant contribution to the concept and execution of the work. One submission per person per year.

Nursing Member Investigators’ Award

up to $3000, one award. Entrants’ Guidelines

The New Zealand Regional Committee may provide one award valued up to $3000 for a member to attend the CSANZ Annual Scientific Meeting in New Zealand or Australia. This will be awarded to a nursing affiliate member for the best individual presentation in the Prize sessions. Applicants must be based in Australia or New Zealand. The research must have been carried out in Australia or New Zealand and the applicant must have made a significant contribution to the concept and execution of the work. Scientific excellence will be the primary criterion used by the judging panel, but aspects of presentation are also regarded as important. One submission per person per year.

Allied Health Member Investigators’ Award

up to $3000, one award. Entrants’ Guidelines

The New Zealand Regional Committee may provide one award valued up to $3000 for a member to attend the CSANZ Annual Scientific Meeting in New Zealand or Australia. This will be awarded to a technician affiliate for the best individual presentation in the Prize sessions. Applicants must be based in Australia or New Zealand. The research must have been carried out in Australia or New Zealand and the applicant must have made a significant contribution to the concept and execution of the work. Scientific excellence will be the primary criterion used by the judging panel, but aspects of presentation are also regarded as important.  One submission per person per year.

Poster Prizes Entrants’ Guidelines

Three prizes will be awarded at the 2020 CSANZ NZ ASM in Dunedin in the following categories: best poster, best nurse post, best allied health poster. Applicants will be automatically entered upon submitting their poster.

A.H. Couch Research Scholarship

Applications are open in August for the 2021 award, with a deadline of May 31 2020.

Nursing Member Professional Development Scholarship

up to $3000, one award. 2020 details to be advised in December 2019.

The New Zealand Regional Committee may provide one scholarship valued at up to $3000. The CPD scholarship is to provide opportunities for advancement or professional development for members which will facilitate best practice in cardiovascular care to the benefit of patients. The scholarship grant is to cover travel and accommodation costs associated with obtaining additional training or up-skilling within an area of cardiovascular care. The awarding of the scholarship is based on the application form and supporting documentation. Judges will afford increased weighting to applicants who are working outside of tertiary hospitals. Financial nurse members only may apply.
