Feedback from a Cardiac Nursing Education Day
Twenty-three nurses from Hawke’s Bay primary and secondary care roles met for a study day on 22 June at the Education Centre in Hastings. Nurse Representative on the NZ Committee, Jo-Ann Downie, works with cardiac clinical nurse specialists around the country to organise these CSANZ sponsored educational events to help improve the standard of care for patients. A typical schedule for the day might cover the following topics:
- Cardiac anatomy and pathophysiology
- Atrial fibrillation
- Angina/chest Pain
- Cardiac devices
- Cardiac assessments and examination
- Heart Failure management
- Cardiac rehabilitation
- Valvular heart disease
A Heart Foundation representative attends with resources attendees can use to assist patient education.
