2019 Annual Scientific Meeting, Shed 6 and TSB Arena, Wellington, 13-15 June

At the Annual Scientific Meetings the New Zealand Regional Committee offers a range of scholarships and Awards.

Traveling Scholarships

$1000 each, up to 10 awarded

The New Zealand Regional Committee may provide up to 10 scholarships for members to attend the Annual Scientific Meeting of The Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand. Preference is given to members from smaller centers and those who have not previously received support from the Society. Each traveling scholarship will be valued at NZ$1,000. Current financial affiliates and associates are encouraged to apply. Applications close 8 March and should be sent to the Executive Officer by email to info@csanz.nz

Nursing Affiliates Professional Development Scholarship

up to $3000, one award

The New Zealand Regional Committee may provide one scholarship valued at up to $3000. The CPD scholarship is to provide opportunities for advancement or professional development for members which will facilitate best practice in cardiovascular care to the benefit of patients. The scholarship grant is to cover travel and accommodation costs associated with obtaining additional training or up-skilling within an area of cardiovascular care. The awarding of the scholarship is based on the application form and supporting documentation. Judges will afford increased weighting to applicants who are working outside of tertiary hospitals. Financial affiliate members only may apply. Applications close 10 May.

Allied Health Affiliates Professional Development Scholarship

up to $3000, one award

Young Investigators Award (YIA)

up to $7500, one award

The New Zealand Regional Committee may provide one award valued up to $7500 for the recipient to attend an international ASM. This will be awarded to the best individual presentation at the NZ ASM. Applicants must be currently in training and be based in Australia or New Zealand. The research must have been carried out in Australia or New Zealand and the applicant must have made a significant contribution to the concept and execution of the work. One submission per person per year. Associates and affiliates are encouraged to apply.

Nursing Affiliates Investigators Award

up to $3000, one award

The New Zealand Regional Committee may provide one award valued up to $3000 for a member to attend the CSANZ Annual Scientific Meeting in Australia. This will be awarded to a nursing affiliate member for the best individual presentation in the Prize sessions. Applicants must be based in Australia or New Zealand. The research must have been carried out in Australia or New Zealand and the applicant must have made a significant contribution to the concept and execution of the work. Scientific excellence will be the primary criterion used by the judging panel, but aspects of presentation are also regarded as important. One submission per person per year. All nursing affiliate members of the Society may apply.

Technician Affiliates Investigators Award

up to $3000, one award

The New Zealand Regional Committee may provide one award valued up to $3000 for a member to attend the CSANZ Annual Scientific Meeting in Australia. This will be awarded to a technician affiliate for the best individual presentation in the Prize sessions. Applicants must be based in Australia or New Zealand. The research must have been carried out in Australia or New Zealand and the applicant must have made a significant contribution to the concept and execution of the work. Scientific excellence will be the primary criterion used by the judging panel, but aspects of presentation are also regarded as important.  One submission per person per year. All technician affiliate members of the Society may apply.

Poster criteria 2019

$50 book voucher – three awards

The New Zealand Regional Committee may award three vouchers valued at $50 for posters. Any person attending the ASM and who has submitted a poster will be automatically entered. There will be three prizes, one for nursing and one for allied health affiliates, and an overall best poster award open to all entries.
